PARALYMPIAN POPS INTO PETERBOROUGH REGIONAL COLLEGE

Paralympics’ skier Jade Etherington visited Peterborough Regional College’s (PRC) Media and Journalism Centre to inspire students with a talk that gave an insight into her quadruple medal winning success.

Jade’s visit started with a tour of the building, on Broadway, before she was interviewed by a media student for the next issue of the College’s student-led magazine, S-Xpress, which is out this summer.

During the interview, Jade (23), the most successful British woman in Winter Paralympics’ history, spoke about the Games, in Sochi, where she won four medals.

She then headed to the Photography studio for a photo shoot with students, before speaking to Year 1 Print-based Media students, who had a series of questions for Jade and later joined her outside of the building for a group photo.

Jade-IMG_8585-(Small)Nick Reinis, Lecturer of Journalism at the College, said: “It was really good to have Jade come in and meet my students.

“She’s an inspiration and it was great for her to take time out of her busy schedule to come and visit us.”

Nicola Martin, sector manager for Arts and Media at the College, said: “We are always keen to bring people into the college who can inspire our students to aim higher and push their capabilities.

“Jade fits that bill perfectly with the success that she achieved at Sochi and I’m sure the students gained a lot from her visit.”
