NEW KIT IS A WINNER FOR PETERBOROUGH UNITED AS NEW SEASON KICKS OFF

ESP gets the word from behind the scenes at Peterborough United with our regular columnist Phil Adlam…

It’s been a busy period for everyone at Peterborough United as the new season kicked off with Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy fixtures ahead of the Sky Bet League One opener at Accrington Stanley.

The games do take a bit of getting used to. Behind closed doors is a weird experience, but we have to get used to it, both as players and as staff. While we’re all desperate for supporters to return, we know we have to be patient on that score and in the meantime, all we can do is to try and bring the match day experience into your living room.

iFollow is the streaming service provided by the EFL and match passes are available to purchase for £10 at www.theposh.com. Season ticket holders will be dispatched codes so they can watch the home games online while games are behind closed doors.

As you may have seen, we unveiled our latest signing, Sammie Szmodics, in the brand-new PUMA away kit. The pink strip has gone down very well! As a media/marketing team, we wanted to be creative with the reveal because we know Sammie is a firm fans’ favourite.

The video, put together by Miles Arkell, has had over 65,000 views on Twitter alone, which are incredible numbers for a new signing, albeit in the new away kit at the same time. We then got Sammie to flick through some of the #AnnounceSzmodics tweets we had been receiving in the build-up to the reveal, that has had over 30,000 views on Twitter alone too.

We were delighted with the response of the supporters to the reveal and also in the way they have snapped up the away shirt – we had over 200 pre-orders within 12 hours of the kit going on sale. We have sold over 1,200 home shirts too and when you take into consideration there have been no matches with supporters, that is an incredible number and huge credit to Jake Baxter and the Club Shop team led by Julia Raynor.

In the world we live in currently, you have to adapt. You have to come up with different ideas because you’re pitching to a different kind of audience. We are trying our best. We might not get everything right, but we are trying to do things for the right reasons.

Hope you are all safe and well!
