LUKE PASQUALINO STARS IN NEW SERIES ‘THE MUSKETEERS’

Hands up who’s caught the trailers for the new BBC series The Muskateers starring none other than Peterborough actor Luke Pasqualino?

How excited are we?! Local hero Luke shot to fame as Freddie in Skins and has gone on to appear in The Borgias, Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, films including The Apparition and Love Bite but now we’re looking forward to seeing him in action on prime time BBC!

Luke stars as D’Artagnan in the series which tells the story of an elite group of soldiers who protect the king at any cost. It’s a fresh and contemporary take on the classic characters created by Alexandre Dumas in his much-loved novel.

D’Artagnan (Luke Pasqualino), Athos (Tom Burke), Aramis (Santiago Cabrera) and Porthos (Howard Charles) are brothers in arms, fighting for what is just, regardless of personal risk.

Creator Adrian Hodges says: “I’m thrilled to be working with such a dynamic, talented and attractive ensemble cast on our new version of The Musketeers. This series is all about passion, romance, heroism and action, and I can’t think of a better group of actors to embody those diverse qualities. I’m thrilled by their ability and commitment and honoured they’ve chosen to come on board to help us create what we hope will be our modern and original take on this great story and its classic characters.”

Set on the streets of 17th-century Paris where law and order is more an idea than reality, the series follows Musketeers Athos, Aramis and Porthos who are far more than King Louis XIII’s personal bodyguards, but ultimately stand resolutely for social justice: for honour, for valour, for love and for the thrill of it.

D’Artagnan, Luke, is a skilled fighter from rural Gascony, who meets the three Musketeers while on a mission to right the wrong of his father’s death.

The impressive cast also includes Peter Capaldi, Tamla Kari, Maimie McCoy, Hugo Speer, Ryan Gage and Alexandra Dowling as well as a multitude of guest stars.

The 10-part drama of hour long episodes will hit our TV screens in early 2014 and is a BBC Drama Production for BBC One, co-produced with BBC America in association with BBC Worldwide.

ESP has long supported Luke who’s been part of a group of young guns from the city who’ve gone on to find success and put the city on the map including Aston Merrygold from JLS and Olympic gymnast and Strictly winner Louis Smith.

Look out for our interview with Luke in the December, 15th birthday, special issue of ESP Magazine out on November 27!
