RiverCare – a partnership between Peterborough Environment City Trust, Anglian Water and Keep Britain Tidy – is a project that re-connects people with their local river environment.

Project co-ordinator Christine Murray said: “RiverCare is a fantastic way for Peterborough people to get involved and do something practical to improve their local environment.

“It will be the first official RiverCare canoe clear up we’ve held in Peterborough this year so we’re hoping for lots of support.

“We have a RiverCare canoe and we’ve invited three groups, the Peterborough Area Canoeists and Kayakers Club, Proteous Canoe Club and Peterborough Sea Cadets, to help too.

“We’ll then use nets to scoop out the unwanted rubbish and litter from the river.”

The canoe clear up supports the on-going land based RiverCare work going on in Peterborough. RiverCare is always looking for volunteers, specialist expertise and in-kind support.

Children must be supervised by an adult. If you’re interested in helping please contact Christine Murray on 01733 568408 or email christine.murray@pect.org.uk.
