There’s a very special party coming up so make sure you’re invited!
A special party to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday is being organised by City College Peterborough, in partnership with Peterborough City Council.
Catering students at City College Peterborough will prepare a three-course dinner for 90 VIP guests, including local people also celebrating their 90th birthday this year.
The free event will be held at the Main Hall, City College Peterborough, Brook Street, from 12.30pm on Thursday June 9, and applications from people born in 1926 who want to join the party are open now.
The Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor John Peach, said: “Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday is certainly an occasion for national celebration.
“I was delighted to learn about City College Peterborough’s fantastic plans to join in with the party.
“It will be a superb way of marking the occasion on a more local level and is a lovely way of getting Peterborough residents together who were also born in 1926.”
City College Peterborough’s Principal, Pat Carrington, added: “We are delighted to celebrate such a momentous occasion with a special 90th birthday meal prepared by our catering students party here at the College.
“We have a limited number of places available and we want local people who are also celebrating their 90th birthday during 2016 to put their name forward to have the chance to join us, with a guest, at the party.
“People are encouraged to get their nominations to us as soon as possible as plans are well underway for what will be a fantastic occasion within the city.”
The Queen’s birthday is on April 21, and to mark the celebration beacons will be lit nationwide, including in Peterborough.
The Queen’s official birthday is on June 11, which will be marked with the Trooping the Colour parade and a number of national commemorations including a street party on The Mall.
Anyone wishing to be considered as one of the special party attendees, or wishes to nominate an individual celebrating their 90th birthday during 2016, should send the name, address and contact details to Jackie Hall, Marketing Manager, City College Peterborough, PE1 1TU, call (01733) 293888 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Applications should be made no later than Saturday April 30. Invitations will then be sent out in May.
