Today was the grand opening of the Werrington Community Tearooms, located at the Ploughman in Werrington Centre.

The official name is Werrington Central – which is ideal as this tearoom plans to continue to be one of main venues to cater and support the local community in Werrington.

We popped along to check it out and were greeted by many happy faces and it was a pleasure to see everyone enjoying all the homemade cakes!

Local band the One Eyed Cats were there to entertain the customers, and the Mayor of Peterborough, George Simons even popped along for cuppa and a light lunch.

Andy Simmonds and the team are always working hard to raise money and to keep the community spirit going strong, and opening a tearoom in a separate part of the pub really is a great idea and good use of the venue.

It gives locals a place to go in the daytime whether you just want a quick cup of tea or a freshly prepared meal.

They offer hot and cold snacks including all day breakfasts, basket meals, jacket potatoes, filled rolls and sandwiches, homemade soups, homemade cakes and much more.

Werrington Centra; is open Monday to Friday from 9am – 4pm, so next time you’re in the area we recommend you check it out for yourself.
