TIME TO VOTE IN CATHEDRAL PHOTO COMPETITION

Photographs of Peterborough Cathedral, taken during its 900th anniversary year, go on display in the Cathedral Visitor Centre this week.

Pictures of the Museum of the Moon and Tim Peake’s Spacecraft exhibitions are amongst the images featured and now it’s your turn to select your favourite.

The pictures have been chosen by the judges of an open competition that has been running since March 2018. Pop in to see the exhibition and cast your vote for your favourite and then the photographers taking the most popular images will win prizes.

The competition, which is sponsored by Kall Kwik Peterborough, invited amateur photographers to submit pictures that captured the theme, Peterborough Cathedral: A Moment in Time, in an original way. In all, over 150 pictures were submitted and 23 have been selected for the exhibition.

The panel of judges included people from the fields of photography, the visual arts, the media and the Cathedral, as well as the competition sponsor, Kall Kwik.

Voting will close on Monday January 21 and the winners will be announced during the week of January 28. Unframed prints of photographs in the exhibition are on sale at £15 each and if orders are placed by Thursday December 13, can be delivered in time for Christmas.

The exhibition continues until Tuesday February 5. Entry is free of charge and opening times are 10am to 4pm on Monday to Saturday, and 12 noon to 4pm on Sundays (please check before visiting as times will vary over the Christmas period, in addition to closure on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day).

Kall Kwik Peterborough is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and has kindly marked the occasion by supporting the Cathedral’s 900th anniversary photography competition.
