It was wet all round at Deepings Raft Race, both on and off the river, but it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits!

Spectators lined the banks of the river as dozens of rafts took to the water in the evnt organised by the local Rotary club.

This year the rafts took on an Olympic theme in many cases but as ever there were some weird and wonderful outfits – and homemade crafts!

The main race was won by Weir Sunk, while The Bell won the Pub Race. Acta Non Verba won the Fun Race, Deeping Direct Deliveries had the best dressed raft and Bunch of Bourne Co-operative were the best dressed crew.

Former Face of ESP finalist and model Olivia Landin from Market Deeping helped to start the raft races and present the medals at the end.

Olivia got through to the final six in the Face of ESP last year and was a worthy finalist.

Since then she’s had further success and was crowned Miss Every Model Magazine 2012 and recently competed in the Miss England final representing EM magazine.

The crowds were also entertained by Zumba demonstrations, live music and plenty of stalls and family fun making it another great day.

Now the teams and their supporters have all dried out they’re now gearing up for the Raft Race Aftr Party on August 11 at the Golden Pheseant in Etton with DJ, live band, BBQ and the big trophy presentation. Tickets are £10.
