OLIVER is bringing the streets of Victorian England to Peterborough…
Calling all youngsters who fancy taking to the stage – here’s your chance to join RARE Productions next show at The Cresset.
The timeless classic OLIVER! will be running from March 15 – 17 next year and they’re looking for local performers to join the cast.
Open auditions will be taking place on Thursday November 30 at The Cresset from 5pm – 7pm and Sunday December 3 at The Cresset from 2pm – 5pm.
Consider yourself at home with Lionel Bart’s classic musical based on Charles Dickens’ novel, Oliver Twist. The Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike.
The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr Brownlow takes him in.
The auditions for this well loved show will run for about 20-30 minutes. Young people are auditioned in groups of 10-12, and will be taught an excerpt from a song from the show, a short dance routine and will be asked to read a short piece of dialogue.
There’s no need to prepare anything. Just be sure to wear comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for dancing – they can’t allow anyone to audition in socks or bare feet. It’s all very relaxed and informal and there’s no need to book an audition – just turn up in the time slot appropriate to your age.
