Peterborough’s nightlife is certainly heading in the right direction. Bars and restaurants such as Puzzles, Wagamama, the new Queen’s Head, Turtle Bay, Argo Lounge and the new-look Edwards (to name just a few) have seen people flocking to the city centre once again.
Middleton’s Steakhouse & Grill is the very latest addition to our city’s eateries. They opened their doors to the public yesterday (4th September) and ESP went along to check it out.
The 230-seat restaurant (180 inside across 2 floors, with a further 50 outside) was extremely inviting. With its stylish and warm décor and friendly staff, it was a great start to my night out.
All of their meat is delivered fresh every day from their very own butchery in Middleton, Norfolk, ensuring a delightfully fresh meal each and every time you visit.
For my starter, I ordered half a rack of ribs in sticky BBQ sauce, chilli & spring onion garnish. The meat was juicy, full in flavour and fell off the bone – just how I like it.
My main was the 36oz rib-eye on the bone (yes, 36oz!). The knife effortlessly carved into the medium-rare steak that was bigger than my head. The meat was cooked to perfection with really good flavour and texture. It had lovely marbling without too much fat. The mushrooms that accompanied the steak were incredible, with the sweet potato fries equally as delicious.
This was literally the best steak I have ever eaten.
With certain steaks on the menu costing almost £50, Middleton’s is an ideal place to celebrate or impress a date. But don’t be put off by that price, as there are much more cost-effective dishes to choose from also. In fact, they have a £9.95 3 course set menu (which includes steak!). With a selection of burgers and seafood on the menu, there is something to suit all tastes and budgets.
You’ll find Middelton’s Steakhouse & Grill on Bridge Street near the Argo Lounge.
