Face of ESP Jessica Lockhart always said she wanted to help charities during her year so she’s supporting the Starlight Hike in aid of Thorpe Hall and is urging you to get involved.
National healthcare charity, Sue Ryder says that despite the recession, people are getting involved with charity events to do something for a good cause and experience the feel good factor. Over 45% of those who’ve registered for the charity’s Starlight Hikes have done so simply to raise money for a good cause.
The Starlight Hike events are 10k night-time walks which aim to show some of the UK’s most loved landmarks – and fundraising – in a new light. Those who have registered so far have said they did so for a number of reasons. A quarter of people say they are becoming Starlight Hikers in memory of a loved one who was cared for by Sue Ryder and a third said they did so to join in with friends and family.
So, now’s the time to grab your trainers and get your piece of the feel good action! Through the Starlight Hike event, Thorpe Hall Hospice aims to raise money to help Sue Ryder continue to provide long-term, compassionate and end-of-life care to people in the local area.
And it’s not too late to sign up! The Peterborough Starlight Hike takes place on Saturday September 8 and the walk gets underway at the stroke of midnight from Peterborough Greyhound Stadium. It’ll be a great night out for men and women this year with a fun warm up and entertainment around the course to keep you motivated.
