FESTIVE FIESTA BRINGS CHRISTMAS TO LIFE IN QUEENSGATE

Shoppers were wowed by a fantastic festive event which brought Christmas to life in a new style lights switch-on at Queensgate Shopping Centre which also saw a new range of decorations unveiled.

The ‘Festive Fiesta’ of dancing, music, entertainment, and magic on Saturday November 17 has been hailed as one of the most magical Christmas events the city has ever seen, by visitors young and old. Attended by hundreds, it was truly a lights switch-on with a difference!

Unlike anything Queensgate has ever done before, the ‘Festive Fiesta’ saw dozens of dancing bellboys, cheeky elves, nutcracker ballerinas, drummers, and the hilariously hideous Ugly Sisters descending on the shopping centre to perform and mark the official countdown to Christmas.

Every hour on the hour, shoppers were invited to take part in a family fun Christmas gameshow, winning thousands of pounds worth of incredible prizes donated by Queensgate and its retailers, including an iPad, Dyson vacuum cleaner, Beats earphones, £100 gift cards, and much much more.

At every twist and turn around the centre, shoppers were amazed by the stunning extravaganza which kicked off Christmas 2018 with a bang! New decorations added to the excitement, as did the opening of Santa’s grotto in Central Square, which will remain open until December 24. Visits are £5.99 per child, and for a little extra they can have a photo with him too. For full grotto opening times see www.queensgate-shopping.co.uk/whats-on/events.html

Centre Director at Queensgate Mark Broadhead, said: “It was amazing to see how many people came along. It really was an event to remember … and it’s only just the start of what we’ve got planned for the exciting festive season. If this isn’t the most wonderful time of the year, then I don’t know what is! Come along and join in the fun – eat, drink, shop and be merry with us.”

And don’t forget, this year’s Black Friday event is on November 23. Pop along, check out their deals and get ahead on your Christmas shopping, leaving you with more time to eat mince pies and drink mulled wine in December. See you there!
