Fundraisers who bravely descended Peterborough cathedral tower in a charity abseil have raised over £37,600!
Peterborough Cathedral and city based charity Shine, which supports people affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus, have just revealed the incredible amount.
“We are absolutely thrilled with this total,” said the Very Revd Chris Dalliston, Dean of Peterborough, adding “we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part and to all the people who sponsored them.”
The funds will be shared equally between the two organisations and both help to maintain the 900 year old Cathedral for future generations and provide specialist help to those affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
Over 100 people took part in the sponsored abseil down the north-west tower of Peterborough Cathedral including ESP photographer Chris Brudenell (pictured above). Many more went along to enjoy viewing the event, and to watch a live screening of the Royal wedding on May 19.
