FANS of the 1980s are in for a huge treat when respected musician, producer and songwriter Midge Ure comes to The Cresset.
The Bretton entertainment venue has just announced that Midge will stage a concert there on Thursday, November 26.
Best known as the lead singer in ‘80s pop band Ultravox, he brought us hits such as Vienna, Dancing With Tears In My Eyes and Love’s Great Adventure. He also notched up hits as a solo artist – most notably Breathe, If I Was and No Regrets.
He went on to famously produce the Band Aid hit Do They Know It’s Christmas in November 1984 – a song he co-wrote with Bob Geldof as the music industry’s heartfelt and eloquent contribution to Ethiopian famine relief. It sold 600,000 copies in its first week in the UK alone, with 800,000 more bought in the second week and more than 3 million sold worldwide.
In his career Midge has collected armfuls of coveted awards – among them a Grammy and an Ivor Novello – plus a plethora of gold and platinum discs.
Now he is touring the UK with his live acoustic shows – treating audiences to some of his most famous hits as well as new songs from his repertoire. Fans should not miss this chance to see a real musical legend performing live. Tickets to his show, which starts at 8pm, cost £16.
