New Face of ESP Tori Bradshaw will be joining Kev and Abby from Heart FM, Wallace and Gromit and the Posh players for this year’s Christmas lights switch on in Queensgate on Thursday November 12.
The centre’s gearing up for another jam-packed programme of festive fun to keep the whole family entertained this year. The celebrations begin with the light switch on and a special guest appearance from TV’s well-loved twosome, Wallace and Gromit who’ll be meeting and greeting visitors at intervals throughout the day from 3pm.
The count down to the festive lights switch-on will be hosted by Heart FM, with their breakfast show team Kev & Abby counting down to the switch on with Santa himself. Also joining in the fun will be members of The POSH football team, Beauty and The Beast characters from the Cresset’s pantomime and Tori our new Face of ESP. While Kev & Abby spin a host of Christmas tunes, visitors can also take advantage of some extra festive buys with the shops open till 8pm.
From Monday November 30 and through to December 23, lucky shoppers will be able to park for free on weekdays after 6pm and the stores will stay open until 9pm, giving everybody more time to find that perfect gift or brilliant bargain. Queensgate will also be opening until 7pm on each Saturday in December in the run up to Christmas.
Also from November 12, excited little ones will be able to meet Santa Claus as the spectacular Victorian themed Christmas grotto makes a welcome return right outside John Lewis. The lucky children will also be given an early Christmas present from Father Christmas and be able to view the traditional nativity scene from here too. To avoid disappointment, visitors will be able to pre-book a time at Santa’s grotto on the centres’ website www.queensgate-shopping.co.uk
There’ll also be a programme of musical performances throughout December, from school choirs to the Salvation Army’s brass band in Central Square between Costa Coffee and Bhs on the lower mall.
The Giving Tree is back by the car park lifts through until December 13. Last year’s Giving Tree promotion with Heart FM saw over 2000 gifts being donated by Queensgate shoppers to local children, and with the help of generous shoppers willing to go that extra mile for a good cause, the centre is hoping to give many more gifts this year.
Sue Ryder Care will be on hand to beautifully hand wrap gifts in return for a small donation from November 21 until December 24. The charity gift wrapping stand will be located on the mall between Disney and Accessorise for shoppers to have their gifts wrapped while they relax after an evening of shopping.
From Monday November 30 to Wednesday December 23 Queensgate will be funding extra late night Delaine 101 bus services. This service runs between Bourne and Peterborough, and will offer late night shoppers a convenient way of getting to Queensgate for extra shopping till 9pm and home again afterwards so they can finally relax and put their feet up.
