STRUM WHAT YA BRUNG NSPCC FUNDRAISER

IMG_1038If you love music or like to play, join the new jam sessions at the Westwood Hotel on Mayors Walk for Strum What Ya Brung.

This monthly gig held on the last Wednesday of the month is organised by Ian ‘Ziggy’ Bates who’s not only booked in some great musicians to rock the place but has also been using the events to raise cash for the NSPCC.

“It’s all about local musicians getting together and performing their own songs and showcasing their talent.  So far the event’s been very successful and we’ve raised loads for the NSPCC. Our target is to raise over £1000 before February 2010.”

On Wednesday October 28 it’s the big one, with not only some fantastic live music but loads of fundraising as well including an auction with some really great prizes.

Ian told ESP – “We have loads of great stuff up for auction including the best prize ever given to us by the Peterborough born and bred track racing driver Dave Pearson, the current record holder of his class at Rockingham Race Track. He’s offering the ride of your life – 20 minutes racing as passenger at Rockingham Race Track in a Caterham Seven! Lunch will be provided and transport given by me so all you’ve got to do is enjoy the ride!”IMG_1033

We’re told there’s a great atmosphere at the Strum What Ya Brung nights and this is a big fundraising event too so it should be pretty hot. The new guys at the pub have been working really hard to get it back on the scene so show ‘em your support and help back the local music scene and a worthhwile cause too. If you can’t make this one, head down to the next Strum What Ya Brung evening on Wednesday November 25.
