Did you catch it? Dozens of dancers gave Peterborough shoppers a treat with a surprise flash mob!
We’ve all been entertained by those mobile phone ads where people suddenly begin to dance in the middle of crowded places well, Peterborough experienced a flash mob of its own recently.
We were there to capture the action as Stanground College students surprised shoppers in Queensgate and you can now view it on You Tube for yourself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYUUZPDCqo0&feature=related.
It started off with Kamal Hyman (16) suddenly clapping by himself to the sounds of We Will Rock You by Queen as he stood in amongst the crowds outside BHS.
He was then quickly joined by several more dancers as it moved into I Feel Good, then a mixture of songs including Shake Your Tail Feather, Grease Lightening, YMCA, Rocking Robin and at each new song more dancers appeared from the crowd and joined in until eventually 120 were performing.

The dancers were mainly students and staff at Stanground College led by dance teacher Beckie Barnes who organised the whole event.
“I was really pleased with the students hard work and professionalism.
“They’d worked hard on this for weeks and it was a brilliant example of Team Stanground in Action; working across the ages and across the community.
“Everyone agreed they did an amazing job and really brought some fun to Queensgate.”
They certainly did and the three surprise performances went down a storm!
It was the first event of its kind in Peterborough and raised £300 for East Anglian Childrens Hospices, the shopping centre’s charity of the year.
We think they did a brilliant job!
