PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION REVEALS THE BORO FROM BACK IN THE DAY

Remember ESP featured some fantastic retro pics of Peterborough a few months ago taken by Paramedic and photographer Chris Porsz? Well now you’ve the chance to take a trip down memory lane and check out a huge collection of his photos which are being exhibited in Queensgate.

This outstanding exhibition celebrating 30 years of local eye-catching photography in Peterborough can be seen outside John Lewis from Augsut 16-22.

Since the 1970s local paramedic Chris Porsz has been capturing the city on camera and has taken over 5,000 shots.

Visitors can browse at their leisure the fascinating photographs of young and old faces, people at work and play, a few dodgy fashion trends and a glimpse at Queensgate over the years.

Chris will be in-centre most days and would love to hear from anyone who recognises any of the people in the shots.

He’s recently been brining together some of the people he’d traced from his original photos and photographed them again in the same locations as they are now like the two photos featured here.

Chris told ESP – “Without capturing such inspiring and captivating faces over the years, I wouldn’t be in a position to hold such a wonderful exhibition. As a token of appreciation to the subjects and stars of my snaps from 30 years ago, I’d love to meet as many faces as possible, give them a personal tour of the gallery and present them with their special photograph.

“I am also extremely grateful to Queensgate for seeing something special in my work and allowing me to hold such an exciting gallery.”

Showcasing shots of the centre from over the years and displaying a host of fascinating faces will create an exciting and unique experience which is not to be missed.”

Chris will be releasing his second calendar soon for 2011 featuring more of his images.
