PHANTOMS AIR THE BEAR

Air-the-BearGet your cuddly toys at the ready….

Peterborough Phantoms are designating their eagerly awaited local-derby clash with Milton Keynes Lightning, on Sunday December 20, as their annual Air The Bear charity night.

Air the Bear was first introduced to UK ice hockey in 2002 by a group of Peterborough Pirates fans and has been a hugely popular event ever since, emulated at other rinks around the country too. The event involves fans bringing cuddly toys to the game and then throwing them onto the ice as soon as Phantoms score their first goal. ESP has joined ina nd we can tell you it’s a truly unique and spectacular sight !

The cuddly toys are then collected up and donated to a chosen charity for the event, this year it’is the Oncology Unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital which played such a huge part in the successful treatment of club director Phil Wing in 2008/2009.

This year the club are adding a K4KIDS push to the event with the goal being 1,000 fans and 1,000 cuddly toys. So gather up your unwanted toys and prepare to launch them over the top and off to a new home. Just wrap them up in a plastic bag so they don’t get soggy on the ice!

k4kids-A5Tickets will be available on the night of the game but can also be purchased in advance from the club’s website at www.peterboroughphantoms.com.
