PETERBOROUGH FM BACK ON AIR

Time to tune is as the city’s community radio station Peterborough FM goes live once again.

The station will be launching its third Restricted Service Licence (RSL) on 87.7 FM on Sunday June 19 2011.

The Peterborough Community Radio Project, also known as Peterborough FM, has been in existence since 2007 and has to date involved more than 300 local people in producing radio programmes in different languages for the diverse community of Peterborough.

The station’s community invovlement offcier Daniele Fisichella says – “Peterborough FM is  a community resource, to be used by individuals and organizations making up the city’s community. Successes to date coupled with the plans in place for the future will ensure that there is a sense of Peterborough FM being owned and operated by the community as a whole, with the radio station being one of the central parts of that community. The project brings together people from diverse backgrounds who would not meet each other in the normal course of their lives.”

The project’s funded by the Big Lottery Fund, the BBC Children in Need Appeal and other funders and if you have an interest in radio you too can get involved – just email radio@peterborough.fm.

Peterborough FM has been delivering training since the project began and currently offers a basic 15 hours training programme as well as further development training.

ESP’s Mikey Clarke was recently interviewed on the station’s Vivienne Lee show and he’ll be reporting back on that in the July issue. You can now listen to the station as Peterborough FM broadcast’s live on 87.7 FM until July 16 and online at www.peterborough.fm or www.pborofm.com .
