Britain’s original fish foot spa, Appy Feet, has just opened in Queensgate.
The pioneering brand, which was the first to bring this innovative concept to UK shores, has now built up quite a following around the country with thirteen stores already open for business.
Appy Feet, the only place in the country using this particular breed of Garra Rufa fish, continues to lead this ever-growing market.
Peterborough’s Queensgate is the latest shopping destination to be introduced to Appy Feet’s ground-breaking brand of therapeutic fish foot spa with the opening of its 14th store.
An organic alternative to standard pedicures, this unique skin treatment massages and removes dead skin from the feet using Garra Rufa also known as Doctor Fish.
Phil Drinkwater, marketing manager at Queensgate told ESP – “What a great start to the New Year, we’re excited to be welcoming such a fascinating store to the centre.
For anyone who thinks their feet are in need of a little TLC, Appy Feet is the place to go and get pampered in Peterborough.”
Though it may sound wacky, this innovative concept is extremely popular throughout the Far East and has recently enjoyed a successful transition into the UK market through the Appy Feet brand – the first to introduce the concept into the UK earlier this year.
With ‘fish spas’ available in the US, France and Germany, the Garra Rufa is fast becoming a worldwide phenomenon.
During the treatment the fish suck and nibble away the dry skin from the feet leaving you with healthy, rejuvenated skin.![AIL_0126-[Desktop-Resolution]](http://www.espmag.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/AIL_0126-Desktop-Resolution.jpg)
These clever fish can also stimulate acupuncture points, helping to regulate the nervous system, relax the body and release fatigue.
The fish, which originate from Turkey, will only work on unhealthy or dead skin, the healthy skin is left untouched.
Appy Feet was the first spa to bring this concept to the English market, and founder Christina Wright decided to introduce it afetr experiencing the phenomenon while holidaying in the Far East. Christina told ESP – “Having toured the Far East and experienced the fish foot spa in Okinawe, Japan I decided I needed to get involved and made it my mission to bring the concept to England. My idea was to make the fish spa experience available, approachable and affordable to all.
“We’re very excited to be introducing Appy Feet to this wonderful shopping centre. The store’s location is ideal for consumers, making this new form of beauty treatment accessible to all the people of the Peterborough!”
