The fantastic Holiday On Ice spectacular Spirit wowed the crowds as it began its run at the Exec centre in Peterborough and Dancing On Ice head judge Robin Cousins was there to support his team.
On a bleak, wet night this visual spectacle certainly rasied everyone’s spirits with stunning costumes, creative choreography and some jaw-dropping ice skating moves. It was fantastic to have a show of this scale in Peterborough rather than having to take a coach trip out of the city to see it. Even better that artistic director Robin Cousins MBE dropped by to promote the show in person.
Robin told ESP – “Audiences can expect lots of glitz and glamour, which is typical for Holiday On Ice.
“We’ve got a beautiful look in the show, dealing with air, fire and water and we’ve got some great music that people may recognise, but not necessarily played in the way that people might recognise it!”
SPIRT, runs each day until February 7 with several performances at the East of England showground. The show’s a collaboration of celebrated artistic director and lead judge in ITV’s Dancing On Ice Robin Cousins MBE and choreographer Karen Kresge who’ve co-produced a “cultural extravaganza of inspirational ice skating”, combining the natural beauty of the four elements with global traditions and modern rhythms.
the show takes you on a voyage from east to west with world-class ice skaters gliding from sunrise to nightfall, recreating the ethnic splendour of Asian cultures, ancient mysticism of Stonehenge and the tribal gathering of Native American Indians. Many of the costumes will blow you away!
It’s certainly another stunning production from the team and we would recommend you take the opportunity to catch it while it’s here! We were gripped from start to finish particularly with the interpretation of dragonflies which saw skaters in fabulous neon costumes which glowed in the dimmed lights, taking off over the rink suspended by invisible wires and darting across the arena.
