The fabulous Energia ice show by the famous Holiday On Ice team is now in Peterborough and set to wow crowds from February 3 -6 so don’t miss out – tickets are still available!
The Gala Night performance tonight (Feb 3) at the EXEC Peterborough is supporting local youngsters in more ways than one.
Held in aid of Anna’s Hope and the UK Children’s Charity Have a Heart, which is co-ordinated by Cambridgeshire radio station Heart, it will also feature a stunning performance by talented young skaters from the International School of Skating Peterborough.
Ten talented youngsters aged 12-17 from the International School of Skating Peterborough (pictured below) have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to perform on the ice arena at the EXEC Peterborough, East of England Showground, in front of thousands. They’ll present a specially choreographed performance called ‘Art on Ice’ just before the start of the second act of Energia.
ESP caught up with the group during rehearsals at the ice rink in Bretton. The skaters come from Peterborough and surrounding areas as far afield as Leicester, Huntingdon and Corby and have all reached competition standard, ranging from level 1 to level 6.
They include Lita Svensson (14) of Sawtry, Lucille Middleton(13) and Tom Ingall (12) from Hampton, Peterborough and Bethany Whyte (17) from Glinton.
Their dedication to their sport means that they train regularly at the Planet Ice Arena in Peterborough, sometimes up to six times a week.
Skating Coaches Kate Locks and Sarah Massey said -“We are so proud of the skaters taking part and know the experience is invaluable to them. To experience the adrenalin of such a fantastic show and to share the ice with world class skaters is something the youngsters are really excited about.”
The Gala night performance is in aid of two charities: Anna’s Hope, a local charity that supports local children and young people with brain tumours and contributes towards funding for rehabilitation and research into their causes, treatment and cure and Have a Heart which is supporting Children’s Hospices UK.
Anna’s Hope founder, Carole Hughes and Heart Cambridgeshire Breakfast Show presenter Kev Lawrence will accept cheques on behalf of the charities at the show.
