Holiday on Ice, the world’s most visited ice show, is set to raise hundreds of pounds for Stamford-based children’s charity, Anna’s Hope, at next February’s ice spectacular at the EXEC Peterborough.
Money raised from ticket sales for the opening Gala charity night and bucket collections will be donated to the charity, which supports local children and young people with brain tumours and contributes towards funding for research into their causes, treatment and cure.
The charity has also been invited to take a number of patients and carers from Addenbrooks Hospital to the opening performance of Holiday on Ice’s latest show – Spirit – an exhilarating fusion of fire, air, earth and water on the 3rd of February.
Anna’s Hope founder, Carole Hughes, whose own three-year old daughter was the inspiration behind the charity, told us what visiting the show will mean to the children who are well enough to attend, “The show will give children time out from their gruelling treatment and give them special quality time with their families .Thanks to the generosity of Holiday on Ice they will have happy memories to cherish and cheer them up when times get tough.”
Jilly Greed, Managing Director from Holiday on Ice UK said, “Holiday on Ice has a tradition of supporting a local charity in each of the cities from the UK tour with a minimum of £1,000 donated to each. Anna’s Hope is a very deserving charity, and the cast and crew make a point of paying tribute to these brave young people at the Gala Charity night performance.”
SPIRIT, comes to the EXEC Peterborough at the East of England showground 3rd to 7th February 2010.
The show is a collaboration of celebrated artistic director and lead judge in ITV’s ‘Dancing on Ice’ Robin Cousins MBE and choreographer Karen Kresge who have co-produced a “cultural extravaganza of inspirational ice skating”, combining the natural beauty of the four elements with global traditions and modern rhythms.
A voyage from east to west, world-class ice skaters glide from sunrise to nightfall, recreating the ethnic splendour of Asian cultures, ancient mysticism of Stonehenge and tribal gathering of Native American Indians.
Robin Cousins told us: “Audiences can expect lots of glitz and glamour, which is typical for Holiday on Ice.
“We have got a beautiful look in the show, dealing with air, fire and water, and we’ve got some great music that people may recognise, but not necessarily played in the way that people might recognise it!”
