HIGH SCHOOL HIT @ THE KEY

Following the sell out success of High School Rocks this spring, the Key Youth Theatre have turned their musical talents to presenting a brilliant new version of the hit Disney show High School Musical as this year’s exciting annual production which opened yesterday and received a fantastic response from the audience.

Since 1992, KYT has presented a string of sensational summer shows and each year they have featured some of the very best in local musical theatre talent. Previous shows have included a series of hugely popular Rock ‘n’ Roll Shakespeare adaptations, as well as West End and Broadway hits such as South Pacific, Into The Woods and most recently Rent.

There is no doubt that this year’s show will continue the tradition of providing a superb, slick and professional production, with the current crop of talented young performers guided by the Key’s in-house creative team.

High School Musical has certainly proved an absolute phenomenon, with a massive TV series, film success and hundreds of world-wide stage productions playing to thousands of people. Until recently it was only possible to produce amateur presentations of the show in schools, but now the rights have been granted for general release and KYT members are keen to present their production and recreate a brand new, high energy version of the Disney favourite that will stretch the vocal abilities and dance skills of the accomplished young cast.

Children certainly love this show and relish the opportunity to sing along to the great score of well-known songs – including We’re All In This Together, Bop To The Top and Breaking Free.
