FOOTY FOCUS @ SERPENTINE

Serpentine Green went football crazy when two star players from Peterborough United visited the centre.

Captain Grant McCann and winger George Boyd met hundreds of children at the Serpentine Green shopping centre.

The Posh stars were the special guests at a football themed half term event at the centre.

Shoppers were delighted to meet the players and get their autographs.

Some young shoppers tried their hand at a keepy-uppy competition which was eventually won by Cameron Bell who managed a whopping 33.

Grant and George presented Cameron with some match tickets and a signed Posh shirt for his efforts.

Staff from Serpentine Green retailer GAME hosted a session of FIFA 12 as part of the event, so the children could try their hand at beating a professional team on the virtual pitch. And children were treated to a POSH football face from fabulous face painters.

Grant and George weren’t the only talented players at the event as young players from the Hampton Reds, the team sponsored by Serpentine Green, came down after training to show off their ball skills.

Eight-year-oldHampton Reds centre forward Josh Meade-Gore said – “It was a really cool event. I’m really pleased that Serpentine Green arranged it.”

Grant McCann said – “Myself and George were happy to go down to Serpentine Green and meet fans, young and old.

“It was very enjoyable, it is always nice to put a few smiles on a few faces.

“It was especially pleasing for me to beat a few people on FIFA.”

Serpentine Green centre manager Dennis Baldry was delighted with the success of the day -  “Our shoppers really enjoyed their chance to meet the players.

“We had all ages down, all keen to meet their heroes and show their support for the players and the club.

“We hope the players went away knowing Serpentine Green and all our shoppers and staff are right behind them.”
