Sue Ryder’s Febru-hairy is back… and to celebrate, you can win a FREE haircut!
Once again, Sue Ryder – Thorpe Hall Hospice is asking you to fire up your imagination and fundraise around the theme of hair and a few ESP contributors have been joing in the fun, including our very own Face of ESP Lauren Hughes!
February might be famous for Valentine’s Day and Pancake day but this year, Sue Ryder has taken over and re-named it Febru-hairy and they want as many of you YOU as possible to get involved.
Over the last two years Febru-hairy has raised over £25,000, which could pay for seven beds with special pressure relieving mattresses.
This year however, they want to more than double that and raise over £60,000, but they need your help.
To officially launch the campaign, Sue Ryder is teaming up with ESP and The Hair Gallery in Bretton. We’re offering a FREE Cut and Blow-Dry to the person that comes up with the most original fundraising idea. So get thinking and send that idea to michael.clarke@sueryder.org. E-mail your Febru-hairy photos too and you may see yourself in next month’s ESP.
Sue Ryder Fundraiser, and ESP contributor Mikey Clarke is now sporting a very nice ‘F’ shaved into the back of his hair! We couldn’t quite convince Lauren to do the same but if you’d like to join him with an ‘E’, ‘B’ etc etc he’d love the support!
Mikey told ESP - “We’d like as many people as possible to get involved in Febru-hairy fundraising to make this the most successful year yet. This is literally something anybody can get involved with. You can fundraise as part of a company, school or college, at your local pub or if you want to do something on your own.
“You can do anything… Cut it, grow it, wax it, trim it, curl it, fake it, love it, hate it. This is one of my favourite Sue Ryder Care challenges because I love seeing people get really creative, and it has always raised a large amount of vital funds for our local Hospice.”
Former Peterborough Prodigy Guitarist, Gizz Butt is one of the campaigns supporters (pictured). Gizz told ESP – “I didn’t need much convincing to support Febru-hairy. It sounds like a lot of fun and I’m a big fan of the care and support that is provided at Thorpe Hall.
I’ve decided that I’ll be giving my hair a rock and roll makeover – much like my days in the Prodigy. I’m going to have to stock up on a lot of hair wax.”
Other supporters include Radio Presenter and ESP’s live music columnist Keith Dalton, local POSH Players, and ESP’s comedy columnist Steve Gonzalez.
So, why not host a bad hair day, get a group of friends or colleagues to wear a crazy wig, take part in a sponsored leg wax or head shave, or even organise a beard or moustache competition?
These are just some ideas people can choose from. And be sure to let us know if you come up with any different ideas of your own.
