Some good news at last – the price to park in Peterborough City Council’s long-stay carparks has been reduced to encourage more people to do their Christmas shopping in the city this year.
Shoppers will be charged £2 to park for up two hours and £4 to park all day on Saturdays and Sundays starting this weekend. The reduced rate will apply every weekend until Sunday January 8.
Councillor Janet Goodwin, Cabinet Advisor to the Leader, said – “We want to encourage people to come to Peterborough to do their Christmas shopping and spend money in the sales after Christmas. We have a great selection of shops, cafes and restaurants and I hope that reducing the price of parking in our long-stay car parks will encourage people to buy their gifts in Peterborough.
“All-day parking for £4 is extremely competitive compared to other cities and means you don’t have to worry about rushing.”
Peterborough City Council’s long-stay car parks are: Multi-storey Northminster (market), Dickens Street, Wellington Street, Bishop’s Road, Wirrina off Bishop’s Road, Riverside (near Key Theatre), Craig Street, Brook Street, Regional Pool off Bishop’s Road and Pleasure Fair Meadow off Oundle Road.
The current tariff in long-stay carparks is 70p for up to 30 minutes, £1.20 for up to an hour, £2.30 for up to two hours, £3.30 for up to three hours, £4.40 for up to four hours, £5.50 for over five hours.
