On Saturday June 27, the Nene Valley Railway will be holding their Family Fun Day and Beer Festival.
For real ale fans there’ll be a good selection of great real ales available in a large pole marquee at Wansford Station and everyone buying a rail rover ticket will qualify for a free pint (not valid on the train).
There’ll be a free Vintage bus service running from the Brewery Tap car park and stops along Oundle Road (and returns) and a later additional train departing Wansford at 18.30 to take drinkers back to Peterborough.
For the children the family entertainment includes Thomas working (and playing!) in Wansford Yard, Phillippe and Philloppe (stilt walking characters), music from ‘wandering minstrels’ – PennyLess – as well as old-fashioned pub games to try your hand at and kiddies roundabouts.
The Travelling Post Office will be in use as well so you can see how the railways used to pick up and drop off the post whilst on the move.
there’s no need to book in adavnce for the family fun day and all children, parents, grandparents and real ale lovers should head down to Wansford and join in the fun.
