2010 IS LOOKING HOT FOR OUR BOY ASTON!

Peterborough lad Aston Merrygold and the JLS boys begin 2010 with their live tour an instant sell out and will be ending it with an arena tour to which they’ve had to add extra dates already! They’re next single One Shot will be out next month and if 2009 wasn’t big enough for the guys it looks like this year will be even bigger… if that’s possible!

Aston  hasn’t been able to set foot in Queensgate for quite a while but if he had he’d no doubt have felt a little unnerved by the fact his face was adorning calendars on sale around his home town’s shopping centre. Anyone who knows him from the city would no doubt be feeling the same. Talk about a meteoric rise!

Now part of Britain’s hottest boy band, Aston has enjoyed the busiest year of his life – two number one singles, a number one album, countless public appearances and two triumphant returns to the show that launched JLS.

Aston told ESP – “It’s all quite unreal. Only just over a year ago we were still in the show ourselves.”

After such an intense year how do the guys handle the pressure? “We just have a real laugh together in-between times,” says Aston “but when we’re at work we’re professional.”

Despite all the hype about Stacey Soloman who Aston admits “is cute” Aston says he’s still looking for Miss Right – “I’d like a nice girlfriend” he confides. But surely he’s swamped by girls? “Sometimes the ones that just lust after you aren’t the right girls for you. I’d like someone not just hyped on the whole JLS thing – someone liking me for just me.” Steady yourself girls!

Their amazing duet with Alexandra on the X Factor final proved there really were two winners last year – whether the same will be the case for Joe and Olly remains to be seen.

The press love all the competition but when the ‘bad boys’ cuddled up to Alexandra on stage they proved ‘everbody’s in love’ with both acts. “There’s enough for everybody” said JB. “We’re not in competition against her as such. She’s a really good friend of ours and a deserved winner.”

It doesn’t seem that long ago we were casting our votes for Aston and the boys but despite their whirlwind year the JLS guys have still been glued to the latest series themselves.

“We’ve not been getting much sleep,” JB told ESP, “we’ve been working hard but we love it. We still watched the show though.

“We met Jedward,” added JB, who favoured Olly to win, “and they were fantastic guys – one of them even had my bed from the X Factor house.”

The boys have been all over the press and every TV show going but one of their more unusual TV appearances was in Channel 4’s 3D week.

“It was great to be involved in a 3D show,” said JB “and to be the first British group to do it was amazing!”

Of course it was their return to the X Factor stage that was a real talking point. After their first performance Louis was quick to point out – “They’ve got it all they deserve everything they’ve got.”

They even had high praise from Mr Cowell himself who said – “When the boys started the process they put everything together themselves, they worked hard, they didn’t win… but for the next 12 months they did the same. You’re the reason acts like you, why we make this show. Congratulations!”

Oritse says – “Afterwards Simon came over and patted me on the back and said what a great job we’re doing and that he’s very proud. I didn’t know what to say!”

JLS’ new single One Shot will be out on February 22.
